Unlike other photographs, which can be printed, reprinted, altered, and manipulated, a Polaroid image can only happen once.  Once the image is captured, a unique combination of light, shadow and color eject from the camera fully formed.  Since there are no darkrooms, no Photoshop, no enlargers or printers for Polaroids, the image cannot be changed.  It can have no copies and no future versions.  A Polaroid is an instant rarity and an instant thing of the past.  Whether it’s the way a reed bends in the wind, the way the light falls upon a rock, or the way it might capture a fleeting sentiment, a Polaroid is, and always will be , what it was.
